The Empowerment Project is a documentary about ordinary women doing EXTRAORDINARY things!!! While shopping on Amazon for an upcoming Girlife Empowerment class I stumbled across this AMAZING documentary and immediately began watching. I was deeply touched, inspired, fulfilled and in awe of the five courageous women who created this documentary. As a Girls on the Run Coach, I loved seeing Molly Barker share her own journey and story of founding @girls_on_the_run in the documentary. I encourage each of you to watch this inspirational film with the girl(s) in your life. FIVE YEARS AGO TODAY a little film called The Empowerment Project screened for the very first time. It’s safe to say we had NO IDEA the kind of impact this film would have around the world and how this message would resonate with boys and girls, men and women of all ages. Well over 700 screenings later (we stopped counting) in many countries and languages, with endless stories to share about big moments (like our sold out screening in Seattle with Nordstrom when 1,000 people showed up and we couldn’t believe it) to tiny moments (like a Facebook message from a viewer saying how much the film meant to her even years later) we celebrate the grassroots power of a film trying to change the world 🌎 Shocked and humbled this film continues to screen and empower! What would you do if you weren’t afraid to fail? So glad we answered that question with: making a film that could inspire the masses! #empowermentproject

“In late February After-School All-Stars Washington DC collaborated with Charles Schwab & Schwab Charitable to produce a screening of The Empowerment Project Documentary!
These took place at Somerset Preparatory Academy Charter DC PCS & Stuart Hobson Middle School over two days. The movie screenings were followed up by group discussions with students featuring different guest speakers on both occasions: ASAS DC board member and former ASAS student Eric Winkfield from PEPCO; and CEO of Dev Technology Group Kendall Holbrook!
The film itself is produced by an all female documentary crew, and features 8 successful, professional and diverse women across a range of different sectors. Students discussed their own career ambitions after the screening and posed questions to Kendall and Eric about their professional experiences!
